Network Analysis and Troubleshooting Class - Date To Be Announced

Networks are the foundation for virtually all communications within an organization.  It is not uncommon to find voice, video and data all sharing the same network infrastructure.  This use of a shared network also creates a shared point of failure.  This course is designed to help you, the network administrator ensure your network is capable of transporting these applications and quickly isolating the faults when it does fail.

 

In this class, we will share with you the techniques we employ to assess the capacity of existing networks, and problem isolation methods for networks that are down.

 

Agenda

 

· Using the OSI Model to troubleshoot network problems

· Analyzer placement and tapping methods

· Maintaining a healthy Ethernet Network

· Measuring end-to-end network performance

· DHCP operation and troubleshooting

· IP operation and troubleshooting

· TCP operation, troubleshooting and optimization

· VoIP operation, troubleshooting and pre-deployment testing

 

This course will be based on the ClearSight protocol analyzer.  A demonstration copy will be provided to all attendees.  Students are welcome to bring their own analyzers for use in the class.

Instructors:

Mike Pennacchi

Mike Pennacchi is the owner and Executive Network Analyst for Network Protocol Specialists, LLC.  He has over 10 years experience as a full time troubleshooting consultant and trainer.

Mike spent six years traveling the United States solving network problems and training networking professionals before starting his own company in 2002.

At InterOp 2005 Las Vegas Mike led the team of networking professionals responsible for patching and troubleshooting the event network.

Chris Greer

Chris Greer is a Senior Network Analyst and Trainer for Network Protocol Specialists, LLC. With over 7 years of experience, Chris has in-depth knowledge in network troubleshooting and analysis.

Chris served as the Troubleshooting and Analysis Team Lead for the InterOp Event Network for 5 consecutive years, responsible for all troubleshooting teams and analysis vendors.
